Building a strong leadership team is only half the battle as evidenced by the transformation that Tapestry made with the Coach brand.

The real work came in getting everyone moving in the same direction towards a common goal.

I saw this firsthand working with Coach's leadership team during a pivotal transformation a few years back. They weren't just adding talent, they were rebuilding momentum and charting a new course for a legacy brand that had lost touch with the market.

What made it work wasn't just strategy. It was buy-in.

    The Three Keys to Transformation

    First, it starts with vision.

Then it is getting others to care about something bigger than individual paths or careers. To focus on the company's future, the employees, the customer.

Finally, (this is where so many get stuck) it is follow-through. Getting all moving in the same direction.

What struck me most was how Coach's leadership showed up: curious, open, and ready to learn. No egos. No defensiveness. Just genuine commitment to change.

That change and vision gained momentum, and here we are.

Years later, the results speak for themselves. Coach has become a Gen Z favorite, experiencing double-digit growth with younger consumers and successfully repositioning as an accessible luxury brand that resonates with a new generation.

    Impressive!

    The Lesson

A strong team without alignment is just a collection of talented individuals.

True transformation happens when everyone's moving together toward something that matters.
